This structure was originally built as an olive press - hence the name, Olivo - for the estate's beautifully terraced olive groves. Dating back the 16th century as a private press of the Controni family the Olive press was fully functional until 1997, collecting olives from the villagers of Vorno and pressing some of the best olive oil Lucca has to offer. During its restauration, ancient terracotta vases were founfd embedded in the cellars. The century-old olive trees still grace the property today.
