This country Villa was built in the later half of the 18th century and sits amid a beautiful hilly setting and olive grove on the lower western slopes of Monte Albano. Originally two separate peasants cottages, the villa underwent a careful restructuring which united the two buildings without compromising their individual integrity. Only local - often rehabilitated - building materials were used in the highly environmentally-sensitive project. Interior decoration received similar care and attention - with an abundance of antiques, museum-quality art and Persian rugs throughout - and the result is an ideal modern home yet with a beautifully maintained feeling of Tuscan ambiance. De luxe modern amenities include jacuzzi tubs, microwave ovens and ice-making machines. There are also mountain bikes provided for guests' use.
For more than thirty years, the owners have cultivated their passion for antiques and have furnished the villa with pieces acquired from antique dealers, auctions or antique fairs. Some of the more unique pieces include the beautiful doors of the walk-in wardrobes in two of the bedrooms, Empire wardrobes and chests of drawers. There are two chairs and a table from Puccini's villa at Torre del Lago, as well as a late Empire sideboard of Calabrese origin.
